Library User Guide: Ship-To-Me Service

Ship-To-Me allows VCC students and employees to have books sent to their home within British Columbia.

While placing a hold on a book, patrons can select the ship-to-me option instead of selecting a campus to pick up the items. We will then send the print material to the patron at no cost to them.

To place a Ship-To-Me  order, please follow these steps: 

1. Find the item in the VCC library Catalogue 
2. Select Request it 
3. Log in with your myVCC login 
4. Select a pickup location: Ship-To-Me
5. Submit your request. 
6. Wait for up to 2 weeks to receive your book(s). It depends largely on how long it takes Canada Post to deliver.
7. After receiving your books, please hold on to the shipping label inside.
8. When you are ready to return your books, place each book back separately into the envelope it came in. One book per envelope. Tape up the envelope, attach the shipping label and place in a Canada Post mailbox.

Does Ship-To-Me cost anything?

It's a free service! But please keep the packaging and enclosed shipping label, so you can return it to us.

Is it faster to have the books shipped to me, or is faster if I just come in pick the book up myself?

It's definitely faster if you place a hold and come and pick up the book yourself. Shipping is time and labour intensive. Also, we are using Canada Post to ship to you. Definitely not Amazon fast!

Where do you ship to?

We ship to anywhere in BC! Unfortunately we are unable to ship to anywhere outside of BC.

How many books can I request?

You can borrow up to 5 books in one day. If you need more books than that, you will have to wait until the next day to request them.

How long can I borrow the books for?

Our regular collection loans are for one month. If it's a regular book, it can be renewed for up to 3 times. 

Can I have Reserves items shipped to me?

Unfortunately you can't have a Reserves items shipped to you. Reserves are loaned on a first-come first-served basis and have to be borrowed at the campus assigned to them.
