Indigenous Storybooks

• Indigenous Storybooks is a resource designed specifically for children, families, community members, and educators. Inspired by the open-licensed stories from 
•  Little Cree Books, this project aims to make the text, images, and audio of stories available in Indigenous languages, as well as English and French. 

Cultural Survival

• For modern Indigenous people, having a body of literature in our Indigenous language has become a central focus in the process of strengthening our languages and defending our right to transmit them to future generations.
• StoryWeaver, an open source platform from nonprofit publisher Pratham Books. Aiming at underrepresented languages, StoryWeaver offers a free online platform where users from any part of the world can read, create, and translate stories to the compendium of written literature in their languages.

• Treaty 7 Language Books 
  • Indigenous languages have long been underrepresented in literature — especially in children's books. To honour the United Nations' International Year of Indigenous Languages in 2019, aspiring Treaty 7 writers to started changing that.
  • In the Indigenous Writers Workshop, participants worked with author Richard Van Camp to create children's books in their traditional languages. Watch the authors read their books!

Mazinaate Indigenous Language Resources

• Mazinaate has been publishing Indigenous Language books and resources since 1998. Our goal is to provide superior language learning books and resources to encourage language learners to pursue the beauty and culture of Indigenous communities.
