Supporting Indigenous Language Revitalization (SILR) SILR's primary focus is on increasing accessibility to language programming and developing resources that aid in maintaining and enhancing the health and vibrancy of Indigenous languages in communities. This effort is aimed at benefiting both current and future generations.

The Indigenous Language Revitalization Degree (ILRD)- Yellowhead Tribal College is a comprehensive, three-year program to support language acquisition and revitalization practices in Nehiyawewin/Cree, Stoney/Nakota-Sioux, and Anishinaabe/Saulteaux languages and cultures.
The First Nations and Endangered Languages Program (FNEL) is part of UBC’s commitment to community-based collaboration with First Nations and other Indigenous peoples, in recognition of the vital importance of their languages and of the cultural traditions they represent. British Columbia has an extraordinarily rich linguistic heritage, being the ancestral home of more than half of the Aboriginal languages of Canada. The reality is that all of the 34 surviving First Nations languages of BC are critically endangered.
