Information Literacy: Definitions

Information Literacy, as defined by the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL): "Information literacy is the set of integrated abilities encompassing the reflective discovery of information, the understanding of how information is produced and valued, and the use of information in creating new knowledge and participating ethically in communities of learning." (from the Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education, January 2015).

Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP): "Information literacy is knowing when and why you need information, where to find it, and how to evaluate, use and communicate it in an ethical manner."
